Do you aspire to create crafts that you can both produce and sell?

Let’s convert your passion of a good craft into a small company where you can really earn money creating if you’re a talented, creative person.

I have a long list of homemade goods that I want to create and sell from my house.

So keep reading if you’re curious in which crafts earn the most money, which crafts are presently trendy (and how to find out), or which homemade crafts sell the best.

I’ll also talk about how to get those crafts in front of consumers, specifically how to sell them online.

I think it’s fantastic that you can benefit from your crafts and earn money doing what you like.

I’ve compiled an extensive selection of crafts to create and sell online, ranging from jewelry to delectable sweets. I’m confident you’ll find a craft project here that you’d want to attempt.

Which handcrafted items are the most lucrative to create and sell?

So, which crafts are the most lucrative to produce and sell?

This is, of course, the million-dollar question!

The fact is that whatever you produce, you must ensure that you price it properly while keeping your expenses low.

This is often where newcomers go astray.

They don’t correctly cost the goods they’re producing, and as a consequence, they don’t charge enough for their one-of-a-kind handcrafted creation and the many hours it took to create!

Don’t undervalue yourself or your time by underpricing your service.

The good news is that customers are waiting to purchase your products…

“The overall value of craft sales has risen from £883 million in 2006 to over £3 billion in 2019,” according to the Crafts Council.

“The public’s growing demand for authenticity, experiences, ethical, and ecological consumerism has fueled an interest in creating and handcrafted objects,” says the author.

As consumers, we’re looking for unique present ideas and one-of-a-kind treasures for our homes or for ourselves.

Making and selling lucrative crafts is a wonderful example.

Printables are a great example of a craft that makes a good profit.

These are items that you may develop and offer to your customers so that they can download and print them at home. Planners, kid’s activities, and nursery prints are just a few examples.

They aren’t crafts in the conventional sense, yet they are still created and developed.

Because these crafts are very inexpensive to create and sell, they tend to earn a profit. Plus, you may resell them again and again.

Suzi from Start a Mom Blog is one of my favorite bloggers, and she offers a fantastic course on how to create and sell printables.

Take a peek at her pupils’ achievements and how they are generating passive money online.

You may want to discover what crafts are popular right now before deciding which ones to create and sell.

There are a number of methods to keep up with the latest homemade craft trends:

  • Etsy Trends – what better place to look for the newest fashion trends than the worldwide marketplace specializing in antique, handcrafted, art, and crafts?
  • Pinterest Trends – it won’t be entirely dedicated to craft trends, but there will undoubtedly be some gems.
  • Google Trends – look for particular keywords in your area of crafts on Google Trends to discover what similar searches have been popular in that sector. Alternatively, leave it wide and type in “craft” or “handmade” to see what comes up. Continue to limit your search for more and more ideas.
  • Take a peek at Folksy Best Sellers to see what’s been selling the most in the last week.
  • Handmade Hunt maintains a list of hot Etsy businesses that is updated on a regular basis.

Hopefully, this provides you with enough of research information to help you come up with money-making craft ideas!

How can I discover additional money-making crafts?

So I’ve given you a few of methods for finding crafts that are currently popular and selling well.

But, before we go into the long list of money-making DIY crafts, let me teach you how to come up with your own limitless possibilities.

I adore using a hashtag to discover infinite creative ideas to create and sell.

Type #smallbusiness into the search box on Instagram. Thousands of individuals make and sell their crafts on the internet.

Click on the picture you like to see what crafts they make and sell, as well as explore their store for inspiration:

Another simple alternative is to look at what individuals are selling on Etsy.

This will offer you ideas for WHAT to sell, but it will not teach you how to make it! You could, of course, do your homework and look for classes online or in your region.

Alternatively, before investing in a craft making school, consider utilizing Pinterest to get started.

To obtain Pinterest recommendations, type “How to create” in the search box and then proceed through the alphabet, e.g. “How to make b” offers you these options:

Then, in the Pinterest results, you may look through the instructions.

What are the most profitable crafts to produce and sell?

Right, we’ve covered the most profitable crafts, as well as how to discover even more profitable crafts and crafts that are now popular.

So let’s get down to business with my EPIC list of 50 product ideas for making money with crafts.

Some of them are simple crafts to produce and sell, making them an excellent location to start a small company.

I hope you like a couple of the suggestions…

Number One: Digital Products

It’s not your typical online-saleable craft, but it’s certainly worth noting.

A digital product is a file that you offer to your client and that they may download and print at their leisure. Here are a few instances of what I mean:

  • Calendars – planners
  • Printables for homeschooling
  • Pages to color
  • Packs of activities for kids
  • Prints made using a computer
  • Invitations to a wedding
  • Invitations to a party
  • a treasure hunt
  • Pack of quizzes

These products have the potential to be very popular and lucrative.

You don’t have to pay for materials since it’s not a tangible product, therefore your overheads are minimal. You don’t even have to send the goods.

Just search Etsy for “digital downloads” or “printables” to discover the almost infinite possibilities of what people want to purchase!

You don’t need any design expertise, and you don’t even require a premium graphic design tool to get started.

To create attractive printouts that people will pay you for, try utilizing Canva or PicMonkey.

How to market and profit from handicrafts

When it comes to selling crafts, there are many options. From putting up a booth at a craft show to selling online, there are many options.

With all of these choices, it’s a good idea to open a separate bank account for your craft company as well as a business PayPal account.

This will keep your company’s funds separate and make it easier for consumers to pay you.

So, let me walk you through the most common alternatives for selling your lovely handcrafted goods…

#1. On your own blog or website

Other alternatives may frequently take a large part of earnings via the fees they charge, so this is a fantastic way to save money.

Starting a website is considerably less expensive than you may imagine. Starting at just $3.95 per month!

In reality, I created this website entirely on my own, with no technical knowledge. If I can accomplish it, believe me when I say that you can too!

I’ve got a complete step-by-step tutorial for setting up your WordPress blog or website.

I use Bluehost to host all of my websites and strongly suggest them, particularly since they are so inexpensive (they even throw in a free domain name!).

Set up a website or blog with Bluehost. You can set up a shop with WooCommerce to start making money from crafts.

Once your website is up and running, you may use a plugin like WooCommerce to add your goods.

WooCommerce is very simple to use. In fact, you can get started in only five steps (two of which I’ve already covered by setting up your WordPress website!).

Check out our article on “How to Get Started with WooCommerce in 5 Easy Steps.”

You can make beautiful storefronts like this one.

Shopify is the second option.

Shopify is an eCommerce platform that allows you to start your ideal craft company fast.

You may simply set up an online shop using their software and begin selling to your consumers.

Shopify offers five distinct price options, beginning at $9 per month for Shopify Lite.

Every Shopify subscription includes templates to aid in the creation of a professional-looking shop.

There are many resources available to assist you in creating and selling your crafts both online and in person.

They also include built-in payment processing, the best-converting checkout on the internet (according to them), and SEO and marketing tools.

Would you want to use Shopify to earn money from your crafts?

No credit card is needed to sign up for their 14-day free trial.

This is the sort of thing Shopify can help you build.

#3. Use Etsy to make money as a crafter

This is a simple alternative, but you’ll have to pay fees, and it’s not always the most cost-effective.

On the positive side, Etsy makes selling with them as simple, transparent, and secure as possible.

If you’re wondering what you can create and sell on Etsy, here are some suggestions:

  • handcrafted items,
  • things from the past and
  • craft materials

For additional information on the finest items to sell on Etsy, see this article.

Creating an Etsy Store

Setting up a store on Etsy is very simple, and you can join and get started for free.

To create an Etsy store and start earning money from crafts, go here.

Simply go to the bottom of the page and click “Open your Etsy store.” If you don’t already have an Etsy account, it will urge you to do so.

Simply choose your shop’s location and currency.

Choose a name for your store and then make your first listing – eek!

Etsy is very simple to use and will walk you through the whole process of creating your store.

They’ve put up a seller’s guide to assist you in making money from crafts.

How much does it cost to sell your goods on Etsy?

You may post your first item for $0.20/£0.14 and it will remain on the site for four months or until it sells.

There is a 5% transaction charge on the selling price of your creation after it sells (including the delivery price).

Furthermore, if you take payments via Etsy Payments, you will be charged a 4% + £0.20 payment processing fee when an item is sold.

Facebook is number three.

You may earn money creating and selling on Facebook in a variety of ways:

  • Page for a Company
  • Groups on Facebook
  • the market place (you can use it to sell and make money from your crafts if you have a personal profile)
  • Shop on Facebook (apply for a shop within your FB Business Page)

You’d utilize a Facebook Business Page, Groups, or Marketplace to get your crafts in front of prospective consumers.

You may then refer them to your website, Etsy shop, Shopify store, or other eCommerce platform (or, in the case of Marketplace, pick up and pay in person).

Facebook Shop, on the other hand, is a game changer!

Here’s an example of an Urban Outfitters Facebook Shop:

If you don’t currently utilize an eCommerce platform, you may start making money from crafts by uploading and managing items directly on Facebook for free.

Facebook provides step-by-step instructions that walk you through the process. They make connecting to payment providers a breeze (namely PayPal or Stripe).

Here’s how to get your Facebook Shop started.

Craft Fairs (#4)

Okay, don’t discount the conventional craft fair as a viable option for selling your money-making items.

You may have to leave the home, but that isn’t always a negative thing…

Meeting prospective clients face to face may help you understand what’s working and what isn’t.

It’s an ideal method to get feedback on the crafts you’re selling. You may then fine-tune your product line to meet the needs of your consumers.

You may also discover additional money-making crafts by browsing around other sellers’ booths for inspiration.

If you live in the United Kingdom, here’s a fantastic list of craft fairs to visit.

Folksy (#5)

Folksy is a website in the United Kingdom where you can buy and sell handcrafted gifts and unique artwork produced by independent artists and designers.

Folksy is completely free to join; there are no sign-up fees, and your first three listings are completely free.

The following are the charges after your first three listings:

  • £0.15 per item listing charge
  • Commission is 6% of the sales price.
  • Folksy merchants are charged a set fee plus a percentage of the transaction (from 1.4 percent + 20p) by PayPal and Stripe.

#6. You won’t find me on the High Street

Not on the High Street is a UK website that offers unusual & unique products that are not widely available in high street shops.

It is home to almost 5,000 of the finest small creative companies in the UK, which they refer to as “Partners.”

There is a one-time membership charge and no listing costs.

Joining costs £199 (£238.80 including VAT), and each sale costs you 25% commission (plus VAT).

You may submit an application to sell your crafts on Not on the High Street by clicking here.

#8. Handmade on Amazon

You may apply to join Amazon’s artisan-only group to earn money from handcrafted goods after you’ve set up and been authorized to sell with them.

It is completely free to join Handmade, create a store, and list goods. Handmade deducts a 12.24 percent referral fee from every transaction you make.

To begin, you’ll need to sign up for a Professional Selling plan.

Handmade-specific tools and assistance are included in the package to help you develop your company.

For Amazon Sellers, the Professional Selling plan costs £25 per month, however this price is eliminated for Handmade Artisans.

Good eh?!

#9. eBay

eBay, the old standby!

On eBay, you may sell almost anything, even your money-making crafts!

Indeed, eBay has a fantastic Crafts Selling Guide to assist you in getting started.

Up to 1,000 free listings per month are available to private sellers on eBay. After that, each new listing will cost you 35p.

You pay a final value charge of 10% of the total transaction value, including taxes and shipping, when your item sells. The final value costs for a single item are limited at £250.

Start selling and profiting from crafts on eBay right now!

Begin your journey and earn money while you’re at it…

On this massive post, I’ll end it there. I really hope you found it helpful and that you have discovered at least one money-making craft project as a result of it.

I’d start by looking at the product suggestions listed above. Make a list of a few things you’d want to try your hand at.

Then check at some of the methods to find trendy crafts to produce and sell, such as Pinterest or Etsy.

What are people purchasing right now, and what are they unable to get enough of?!

Look for #smallbusiness and similar hashtags on Instagram and Facebook to discover who is already making money with crafts.

Instead of copying, utilize it as a source of inspiration.

After you’ve tried your hand at a couple of these wonderful crafts, decide which ones you like creating the most, calculate the cost, and do some research to see how much you might sell it for.

If it is profitable, you may go to the next step and consider how to sell your crafts, whether via your own blog or website, Shopify, Etsy, or one of the many other platforms.

Start by looking for free instructions and patterns, but if you want to learn more, don’t be hesitant to spend in a craft school.
