Here’s how to save money for Christmas in advance:Saving for Christmas
Holidays should be a time of joy, not stress. If you follow these tips, you can have a great Christmas even on a budget.
1. Budget for the year
If you already have money set aside, it won’t seem like a burden. Set a Christmas savings goal and plan it into your monthly budget. You can open a special savings account for this purpose or keep the money in a piggy bank. Just $10 a month gets you $120 for the whole year. If you save $10 a week for 52 weeks, that’s $520! Where can you cut costs to achieve this?
2. Search offers all year round
Holidays are not always the best time to shop. Some stores even raise prices months in advance and then lower them to make buyers think they are getting a good deal. Tip: Take advantage of sales throughout the year and keep gifts in a safe place. And why not take advantage of the post-Christmas sale on jewellery and gift sets? 75% off? ! Cha-ching!
3. Make your own gifts
DIY gifts are a great way to save money. They are not expensive, but they can be very beautiful. In fact, here are some thoughtful gifts you can make yourself. Some are made of dollar store materials and don’t look cheap at all.
Think about it… What would your loved one think of a personalized gift basket with mint cookies, Christmas gin, homemade lemon scented soaps, etc.?
4. Don’t worry!
If you started saving too late and the bells start ringing, don’t feel bad! With these rapid changes, you can still find money for the holidays.
- Get a part-time job that allows you to earn extra money.
- Sell stuff you don’t need anymore online.
- Give up certain things for a while. For example, if you set aside $100 each month for entertainment, you won’t have to travel.
And to help you out, here are some unique gifts worth up to $50 that you can buy online.
5. Preferring tradition to gifts
Christmas shouldn’t just be about money. Instead of buying gifts, share memorable experiences with your loved ones. In my family, we started doing that. What could be better than putting on pajamas and lollipops, having fun, playing games, watching Christmas movies and eating treats?
